Sweet Corn - A classic Wisconsin summer treat
Add Flavor and Color to Every Dish with Fresh Herbs
Fresh sweet corn is a Wisconsin staple, so it's only right that our state is one of the leading producers of sweet corn, both in acreage and volume. It would be hard to find a Farmers Market in July, August, and September that isn't full of vendors selling this tasty treat. While the most classic prep is to cook and eat the corn on the cob, there are plenty of salads, breads, and other treats you can make with sweet corn when it's in season.
Storage
Corn is best when consumed fresh. If you need to store it, keep it in the refrigerator with the husks on and consume it as soon as possible, preferably within a few days.
Seasonality
Corn is a summer vegetable and is typically harvested during the warm months of late summer and early fall.
Prep Tip
Try cooking corn in its husk when grilling – the husk steams the corn for a perfect ear! Soak the ears in water first to avoid burning.
