Wisconsin
Apple Picking Season
Lots to crunch on at Wisconsin Orchards this fall!
Apple picking is a core memory for so many in the state, and nothings screams ‘fall’ more than crunching into a freshly-picked McIntosh. There are apple orchards all over the state - use our map to find the one nearest you, or make a weekend of it and travel around to something new!
Storage
Apples should be stored in the refrigerator or a cool, dark place. They can last for several weeks to months, depending on the variety.
Seasonality
Fresh apples can start to make an appearance in late July, and fresh eating extends as late as November. Many apple varieties are great in storage, with some improving in taste with cold, so local apples can be eaten throughout the winter and early spring.
Prep Tip
Apples store a lot of their nutrients in their skin! If possible, wash thoroughly and snack skin-on.
